“We want to save the students from further humiliation and shame. If they choose not to attend classes in their second take, it is fine, provided na natapos naman nila yung subject noong first take at sadyang hindi lang sila pinalad na pumasa,” Cruz told the UPLB Peerspective. “We want to ease their suffering.”

So bakit pa po ako papasok ulit?”

  1. What if the reason a student failed a course was because he had excessive absences? The reason there is a maximum number of absences is that because the remaining days was the minimum number of days a student should be present to understand the course. I am assuming the rules on absenteeism is not just so there is a rule, it’s implemented for a reason. Though this may not apply to all, but mostly, if a student did not pass a course was because his/her understanding of it was not enough, hence the retake and attending the classes he/she has already attended.

No matter how much students favor this “repeater’s clause,” in the end it will be their loss. I have also experienced retaking subjects, and I still come to class, thinking it’s for my own benefit. But then again, this is just me. 🙂
